Chiropractic began in 1895 by a fellow named DD Palmer. Although the practice of "moving" or "setting" bones has been around since ancient times, it is the Palmer family who founded most of the tradition in which we perceive it today. Both his mentality and that of the chiropractic profession today states the principle that the body is a self-healing organism, and what created the body is able to heal the body. Period. This philosophy is sometimes known as INNATE or ABOVE-DOWN, INSIDE-OUT. The body heals from above down, and from the inside out. Because of this understanding, chiropractic is focused on a condition called SUBLUXATION. A SUBLUXATION is when an area of the spine or extremity is out of place and causes pressure onto a surrounding nerve. Chiropractic is interested in removing any interference that may be preventing an individual from expressing maximal health through removing SUBLUXATIONS. Because the nerve system of the body is the master controller of that body, it is important to keep the lines of nerve communication between the brain and body open. YOUR NERVES CONTROL EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR BODY.
